2021 Livonia Police Memorial Ceremony
The week of May 15 is recognized nationally as Police Week. Each year, we hold a memorial ceremony at Nehasil Park to remember Livonia’s fallen, but also recognize all Michigan Law Enforcement Officers that had made the ultimate sacrifice during that year. Due to COVID, we cancelled our memorial ceremony for 2020. This year, on May 13, we recognized 2020 and 2021 deaths of Michigan Law Enforcement. Half of the deaths that we recognized were due to COVID. For many of the survivors, like many of you, COVID restrictions at the time of the deaths prevented an opportunity to pay adequate respects. Regardless of the cause of death, this ceremony was their first opportunity to recognize the loss in this type of setting. It was an emotional evening. For their families and agencies, deepest sympathies. To each of you who have experienced a loss, condolences to you as well. Below is a link to the ceremony. It was a wonderful tribute. Chief Caid
