A New Year!

New Years Post

As we happlily send 2020 packing and continue to cope with COVID-19, I hope you are enjoying the holiday season. All of us have experienced a “bad” year. Financial issues, death of a loved one, relationship issues, unfortunately, the list is long. But, 2020 takes the cake. COVID-19 has affected each of us. I’ve concluded that eaxh of us knows of an individual or family that has endured a loss or a hospitalization due to COVID. I know there is some apprehension about the vaccine, but it gives us more hope that our lives can begin to return to a more normal cadence. At LPD, we are looking forward to an optimistic 2021. Fingers crossed/prayers answered, we will experience a re-birth or jump start for each of us. 2021 will be a transitional year for Livonia Police Department. You will see some needed upgrades to our website, which includes our transparency tab, with the goal of deployment of no later than February 1. There are additional projects that we are pursuing that will assist our officers in addressing the increasing demand of mental health crisis, substance abuse and increasing our partnership with Growth Works and Hegira. Currently, our staffing is down 25%. Hopefully, with the new benefit package, Livonia will attract a greater number of applicants for our open positions, which will open opportunities for our staff and allow our continued commitment to the region. 2021 will be exciting! I could go on and on, but my team cautions me that I can be too long winded! Throughout 2020, we have received hundreds of cards and letters. Hundreds of gift card donations. Hundreds of other donations, all sending the message to our officers and their families thanking them for their commitment to our community. I’ve said it before and I’ll continue to say how proud I am of OUR police department and of OUR community. I know that I can speak on behalf of the LPD Family to all of you….THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMITMENT TO US!!! WORDS CANNOT ADEQUATELY EXPRESS OUR APPRECIATION!!! Wishing you and your families all the best for a Happy, HEALTHY 2021!! Chief Caid
